Guide Boats, Ausable Lake, 2002

It was early in the morning, before breakfast. We were at ‘Inlet’, one of the Ausable Club camps on the Upper Lake. As I was walking to the kitchen I noticed the light from the lake coming up through the trees, framing the guide boats which we had rowed over the day before. My pancakes could wait. Back to the lean-to and my camera. I started at the top and kept shooting as I worked my way down the path. Things kept changing; the light, the relationship of the boats to the trees and the boats to each other.
