About Ben
Artist StatementEvery family has its Moments of Grace®. I don’t photograph the way people look, I photograph their energy. I allow my intuition to guide me to reveal Moments of Grace in my photographs. I invite you to capture your family’s Moments of Grace… Call me at 203.656.3807 for a complimentary consultation, or click here to send me an email. Artist ProfileMy primary purpose is to reveal those fleeting, yet memorable glimpses of life we take for granted, moments every family has but rarely sees revealed in photographs. By creating images that reveal spirit, I have found a way to share my gift with others and fulfill one of the basic tenets of my spiritual practice. I grew up the son of a Quaker minister, and I learned a lot about honesty, humility, and the importance of having an open mind. These values resonate within me today as a practicing Quaker, meditator, and seeker into the human spirit through the camera lens. Since I was a boy, I sought to explore the world around me through art. My formal training as an artist began in 1962 at the Rhode Island School of Design (BFA) where I discovered my true passion – photography – through mentor and world-renowned photographer, Harry Callahan. In 1978, I returned to college to earn an MFA from Yale University. My fine art background has trained me to photograph as an artist so by instinct I include artistic elements of composition, rhythm, texture and space in my images. In addition to portraits, I also photograph landscapes and nudes. Permanent CollectionsMy photographs, commissioned and personal, are in many private collections, as well as in the permanent collections of:
